Certifications

The Medical Exercise Training Institute formerly the American Academy of Health Fitness and Rehab Professionals offers three internationally recognized medical exercise training/post rehab certifications. These certifications include the 1) Post Rehab Conditioning Specialist; 2) Medical Exercise Specialist and 3) the Medical Exercise Program Director. Each certification requires only ONE of the three prerequisites listed below to register.

• Certification as a personal trainer, Pilates instructor or massage therapist from a nationally recognized organization or;
• A degree in a health or fitness related field (i.e. kinesiology, exercise physiology, nursing, etc.) or;
• At least one-year experience working a physical therapy, chiropractic, sports medicine or rehab setting as a rehab technician, exercise therapist, conditioning specialist, RPT, PTA, OTR or COTA.

Our Medical Exercise Specialist (MES) and Post Rehab Conditioning Specialist (PRCS) certification training are now available as part of our new Medical Exercise Specialist Training (MEST) series. This new series allows you to obtain all the information in our internationally recognized MES and PRCS program without leaving your home and studio. The MEST program has 50 lessons with each component of every lesson downloadable. This allows you to access the information faster, easier and at a more reasonable price. You may attend our 2-day “Medical Exercise Specialist” onsite workshop to augment the MEST series training and obtain more hands-on medical exercise/post rehab skills and learning. The MES Onsite is available in cities throughout North America.
