MedExPROS: Unleash Referrals with Days 1–5 of the Challenge!

Hey there, fellow Medical Exercise Professionals! Are you tired of being the best-kept secret in healthcare? Do you dream of a thriving practice fueled by consistent, quality referrals from doctors, therapists, and chiropractors? Then you absolutely need to tune into the "Make Your Medical Exercise Training Practice Referral Ready in 30 Days" challenge!

While Dr. Mike took a moment off from the 30-day challenge to celebrate a very important birthday (happy birthday to his wife!), he dropped a powerful summary of the foundational first five days, and let me tell you, it's gold! This isn't just about getting referrals; it's about building genuine relationships where you're communicating with medical professionals and even referring clients to them.

Let's recap the crucial steps we've covered in the first five days – steps designed to lay the groundwork for a truly referral-ready practice:

  • Day 1: Clarify Your Niche! You need to be crystal clear on what your niche or niches are. The recommendation? Stick to up to two to three niches for every Medical Exercise Professional. This specificity is key!
  • Day 2: Craft Your Killer Elevator Speech! Learn to articulate who you are, what you do, how you do it, and who you do it to in just 30 seconds. Why is this vital? Because if you don't define your services clearly, someone else will, and they might completely misinterpret what Medical Exercise Professionals do. Be clear and concise!
  • Day 3: Assess Your Practice Readiness! Getting referrals is only part of the equation; you need the systems in place to manage them and communicate effectively. This means looking at your intake process, how you interact with doctors, therapists, and chiropractors, and your documentation. Can you easily send a progress report or update? Systems make that possible!
  • Day 4: List Your Services Clearly! Coming from fitness, where things can be general, the medical realm demands specificity. You need to define and list your services so the medical community knows they are safe, effective, and easily understandable. This helps them see exactly how your services can help them manage patients with chronic diseases and functional deficits, and when and how to refer to you.
  • Day 5: Define Your Ideal Referral Sources! While it's tempting to want every possible referral, focusing on your ideal sources is crucial. Research your community, find out provider specialties, practice backgrounds, and definitely get the office manager's name – they can become your best friend in building relationships. Don't get discouraged by rejection; it often takes at least seven to ten touches for a medical provider to truly understand what you do and how it helps their patients. Hang in there!

This challenge is all about progress, not just pass or fail. Every step you take, every door you knock on, even if you face rejection, is progress forward.
